MATCH SUMMARY

With the Christmas break looming, today’s double header at home was a great way to see the first part of the season out in style with 2 wins – and the women’s teams did not disappoint.

The Suns performance today was easily the performance of the season so far, and I’d go as far as to say the performance of the last 2 seasons. The reason for this is quite simply that the group played as a team at all points of the game and executed strong basketball game play throughout. The first 3 quarters were so strong that we could afford the final quarter loss, which only came from a raise in intensity from the opposition.

SCORERS:

Top scoring were the formidable inside pairing of Silvia (17) and Charlotte (13). Scoring 45% of the team points between them, they took advantage of their strength, height and shooting quality. However everyone contributed today, both in terms of points on the board and game play. Tiz followed the top scorers with 11, Ellie and Clair on 7, Sophie and Jade on 4 and Laura with 2.

COACH TRINDER’S ASSESSMENT:

Today was a pleasure to watch and when as coach you don’t have a lot to add at quarter breaks and time outs other than keep up what you’re doing and start to focus on practising what we need to be better at, you know the game is going well.

It is fantastic to see the Suns coming into their own, with a strengthening squad both in terms of capability and numbers, the women’s club now have 2 well established teams. My message to the team is to remember today and keep hold of that performance for our return to action on Monday 7thJanuary, away to league newbies Swindon Shock.
