Jags progress; Falcons shot down; Lemmings close; Storm pushed; Suns resting.

The Jags recorded their second win in the Karl Taylor Cup this season when they overcame Basingstoke Blizzards for the second time in a week, this time by 29 in Basingstoke. The quarter final draw will take place soon… The Jags will be in action at Wellington College on Tuesday 26th against perennial high-fliers South Bucks Comets, tipping off at 9:00pm.

The Lemmings put up a terrific effort in Slough, eventually going down by just three to the Div 1 side the  Slough Scorpions in the Karl Taylor Plate. Div 2 action returns for the Lemmings on Thursday 28th when they travel to St John’s Beaumont School to take on Windsor Warriors 1st team – 8:15 start for that game.

The Falcons suffered a nightmare second quarter in the Karl Taylor Plate against Wolfpack Mohegans, eventually winning the second half but losing by 25. Maidenhead Royals are next up for the Falcons at Wellington College on Tuesday 26th tipping at 7.30pm.

The Suns have had a quiet week, and next play at Yateley Manor School on Sunday 24th against Yateley Silverbacks Ladies in Div 2 starting at 3:15pm.

The Storm eventually overcame the Woking Blackhawk Ladies 61-55  earlier this week in the Wessex Regional League East and next play on Sunday 24th at 4:45pm at Wellington College. This is officially an away game for the Storm as they take on the Bournemouth University Ladies 1st team who are playing their first game of the season.

The local BBL franchise the Surrey Scorchers beat the Plymouth Raiders last Sunday in a thriller at the Surrey Sports Park, and a win against the London Lions at the Copper Box on Saturday evening will see Creon Raftopoulos’s side progress to the Cup ¼ Final.

The Reading Rockets are 4th in NBL Division 1 after suffering a 104-91 loss to the league leaders Solent Kestrels. The Kestrels are coached by Matt Guymon, the son of former TV Tigers Coach Jimmy Guymon. The Thames Valley Cavaliers (who are based in Uxbridge) are currently third in the NBL and include in their line-up former Guildford star Martelle McLemore.
