Lemmings lose by a couple

Lemmings lose by a couple

The Lemmings closed out 2019 for the Aztecs with an agonising 2 point defeat in Swindon to the Silverbacks. Coach Mike Church’s team led 18-12 at the end of the first period and 33-26 at the turn before a devastating third period saw them score one 3-pointer and one foul shot while the hosts poured in 18 points. In the end the Lemmings came up short by just 2, although the scoresheet is almost impossible to decipher!

So 2019 ends, sadly, with something of a whimper with the Lemmings losing and the Jags having to concede to South Bucks Comets in their cup quarter final as they were not able to field a team as a result of illness, injury and player unavailability.

As we head into the winter break the status of our teams is:

Storm: 2nd of 7 in the Wessex Ladies Division 1; 2nd of 5 in the Wessex Regional League East and in the semi-finals of the Richard Bell Cup.

Suns: 4th of 9 in the Wessex Ladies Division 2 with a 3 & 1 playing record and in the semi-finals of the Richard Bell Plate.

Jags: 7th of 10 in the Wessex Mens Division 1 with a 2 & 3 record and out of the quarter final of the cup.

Lemmings: 12th of 13 in the Wessex Mens Division 2 but having recorded 3 losses in all competitions by 3 points or less.

Falcons: 11th of 13 in the Wessex Mens Division 3 with four losses by 9 points or fewer in all competition.

Merry Christmas to all and a very happy and successful 2020 to all members of the Aztecs.

Holly Reith and Douglas Firr
