Match summary:

The Falcons lost, but there were a great many positives to come out of this defeat. Nine of ten players scored; the team scored over 40 points for the third game running and everyone enjoyed 20 minutes of basketball. The opposition were a Division 1 outfit and the difference in class was obvious, however the Falcons battled for the full 40 minutes and scored the last basket of the game.

Key stats:

Both Jack Allen and skipper Tony Upfold have now played in all five of the Falcons fixtures this season. In his first game this year Matt Sawyer hit double figures for points; Nikos Tsigaridas got his best haul for the Falcons while the Lithuanians scored a third of their points from behind the 3-point arc and the charity stripe.

Coach Walker’s assessment:

A Friday night on a cramped court with no visual game clock and very tough opponents was not necessarily anyone’s idea of fun, but fun it was. Everyone got 20 minutes on the court and the atmosphere in the team was, as it had been all last year, terrifically positive. Some of the ball movement was really good, movement off the ball is improving and Nikos was on fire at the end, scoring 10 of Falcons final 13 points of the game. Offence wins games but defence wins championships so the saying goes, and we do need to pressure shots, block out, take rebounds (especially at the defensive end) and we MUST look after the ball better.

Next game:

Thursday 1st November 2018 at 8:15 away at Swindon Shock.
