Match Report – Yateley 16 – Storm 90

Match Summary

The result was never in doubt and it is difficult to put in a particularly meaningful performance in such a one-sided game. Although 90-16 is a very dominant score, Yateley had their moments and helped to expose things we need to do better at both ends of the court.

Coach Skinner’s Assessment:

Our defensive strength stems from the good understanding and communication that comes from lots of experience of playing together. It has been slightly off in these first two games – hopefully that is a function of early season and the nature of the opposition.

The half-court offence had some very good patches when we moved the ball more quickly. Leading scorers were Becky 30 and Jenny 25, but it was good to see everyone get a few and very pleased with Auriol’s 11 because it reflected our setting up and then and making good outside opportunities

Key Stat

The key stat in the game was 36 steals which provided the platform for a lot of fast breaks. We still butcher more than we should but confidence, decision making and execution all got better as the game went on and the level of running and support was good from the start.
