Match Report: Bracknell Cobras 50-Aztec Falcons 38

BRACKNELL COBRAS 50-38 AZTECS FALCONS(16-14; 26-20; 35-32)

WESSEX OPEN LEAGUE DIVISION 3

LEADING SCORERS:

Liam Payne 10; Chris Giles, Jack Parker 5; Becky Wellington 4

MATCH SUMMARY:

After a slow start, when they trailed 1-6, the Falcons picked up the pace and led by as many as 8 before a combination of very aggressive defence and good shooting gave the home team the edge in the closing stages. Having improved immensely in every game to this point the Falcons suffered a disappointing New Year slump which they will need to overcome before they take on the Blackhawks on 19thJanuary.

KEY STAT:

The Falcons led going into the final 10-minute session but conceded 14 without replyin six minutes, a phase that cost them the game and the 2 win points they had hoped to secure in this match. The Falcons managed just three field goals in the second half and scored just 5 of 13 foul shots in that time.

COACH WALKER’S ASSESSMENT:

After all the progress the team made before the break this was a very disappointing result. After leading by 7 at half time the team was confident of recording a second win in the league, but to their credit the Cobras were very tough in the second half and deserved their victory.

NEXT GAME:

Friday 19thJanuary 2018 at 7:45pm away to Woking Blackhawks.
