Match summary:

The Falcons played their part in an exciting and very entertaining game at Bulmershe, and were desperately close to pulling off their second win of the campaign, going down by just 5.

The Falcons, who are improving game after game, took the lead with the first score of the contest before falling behind by as many as 11 during the second period, but they re-took the lead with five minutes to go when Becky Wellington, who had a huge game for the Falcons, scored to complete an eight-point run which gave the visitors the edge at 54-55.

Sadly, the Jets finished more strongly with the depleted Falcons team running out of gas as the game finished. Once again it was a huge team performance with seven of the eight scoring. The best move of the game saw Liam Payne bring the ball out of defence, feed Tony Upfold, playing possibly his best game for the team this term, and his slick inside pass resulted in the final pass finding Matt Blowfield wide open inside.

Key stat:

The Falcons posted their highest total of the season so far, and (agonisingly) lost by six or less for the fifth time this season.

Coach Walker’s assessment:

It is great fun watching from the side-lines when the team play like this. The number of turnovers continues to fall, the movement on offence continues to improve and the defensive effort has been terrific. If we could only get everyone to training, we could make even more progress. The team has over a month off now with the Christmas celebrations taking the place of the Woking game on December 15th, so we have lots of training opportunities before the Cobras game in the second week of January.

Merry Christmas everyone, and a Happy New Year!

Next game:

Tuesday 9thJanuary 2018 at 7:45pm away to Bracknell Cobras.
